“The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure“(1 Corinthians 10:13).
Today’s MASTERpiece is from an insightful anonymous poet.
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you’re trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
So don’t give up, though the pace seems slow –
For you may succeed with another blow.
Often the goal is nearer than
it seems to a fain and faltering man,
Often the struggler has given up,
When he might have captured the victor’s cup.
And he learned too late when the night slipped down,
How close he was to the golden crown.
Success is failure, turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you’re hardest hit,
It’s when things seem worst that you mustn’t quit. 1
While 2 Corinthians 4:8-9 says 8We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; 9Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed, Psalm 71:14 says, “But I will hope continually and will praise you yet more and more.”
Proposed prayer: “Dear Lord God, I pray and ask that you order my steps in Your Word. I surrender my entire life to You. With You, all things are possible so I commit and entrust my entire life to you. Please give me the focus, vision, and the ability to apply wisdom in all things. When I am going in the wrong direction, enable me to hear Your still small voice saying “Stop!” And Lord, I want to stop, look, listen, turn around and head in Your direction. Thank you for hearing and answering my prayer, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.”
