13 Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat 14Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it, Matthew 7:13-14.
Read these two verses over again, beloved. Continuing where we left off last, I want to emphasize that we always have to have the Holy Bible present in all that we do. It is not merely a book. It is the BOOK. Many times Christians are called or labeled “narrow-minded.” All Believers ought to be as narrow-minded as the Bible. Look around you and you will find that so many people, even in the church, are experts on evil and dirty thinking. We need a different attitude because our attitude toward the Bible is a direct indication of our attitude toward God Almighty.
What is God expecting of us? We may not like it but the Lord wants us to be naive concerning evil and knowledgeable concerning good. “…I would have you wise unto that which is good, and simple concerning evil” says Romans 16:19. As Christians, when we seriously ponder and take into consideration what Jesus said in our main verses that “narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life,” then we will immediately conclude that we are actually, truly being exhorted to be “narrow-minded”; we are being challenged to be, to put it this other way, to be focused (minded) on the narrow way.
Are you narrow-minded? I am. And because I am, I do boldly and without hesitation declare that there are no other ways to God. There is no other way to God. Jesus Christ is the ONLY exclusive WAY to God. In John 10:9, Jesus said “I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved.”
Dear reader, where do you stand in your spiritual belief? Are you narrow or broadminded? When it comes to the Holy Bible, God’s truth, it is narrow. Ah!
In Mark 10:2-12, Jesus emphasized on the foundational nature of the first chapters of Genesis even when His messages and teachings were ridiculed and labeled “narrow-minded”. Look at what Jesus confirmed:
- Acts 45:12 I have made the earth, and created man upon it: I, even my hands, have stretched out the heavens, and all their hosts have I commanded. 18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens; God himself that formed the earth and made it; he hath established it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be inhabited: I am the Lord; and there is none else.
- Then Jesus came along and authoritatively said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6). What about John 3:16, “For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son [to die for our sins], that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”. Talk about narrow-mindedness! Then Dr. Luke chimes in with Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. And these are just a very few verses that I have quoted here, very few.
So, why should I, or you, or any other Christian apologize for being narrow-minded when I or you are unwilling to accept or consider any other so-called “ways” to God? Believers died making no apologies because they were narrow-minded for the Lord. Recall our two opening verses. There are only two ways available to man: the broad one that leads to destruction (which is hell) and the narrow one that leads to life (which is eternal life). There are many on the broad way to destruction (hell) and few on the narrow way to life (eternal life). Where exactly do you stand right now?
The way to destruction is broad and wide because it is the way of sin and sin leads to hell. In contrast, the way to life is narrow because it is through JESUS CHRIST alone. I am walking the narrow way, I am going through the narrow door to the only God through the only way, JESUS CHRIST. What about you? The only way you can make it in to heaven is accept this same Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour and Lord. How do you do so? Proposed prayer: Dear Father, in John 8:24 Jesus said “if ye believe not that I am He, ye shall die in your sins.” I believe that if I don’t believe on Jesus Christ, I will die in my sins. Jesus also warned me and others in Luke 13:3 that “except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Lord, I want to repent and learn how to be narrow-minded for you in all things so please help me. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.
